Category Details

The BBB Torch Award for Ethics honours businesses and organizations that stand out for their commitment to trustworthy, ethical business practices. Their leaders demonstrate a high level of personal character, ensure that the organization's practices meet the highest standards of ethics, and build relationships based on trust with customers and the community. Applicants must be in good standing with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and have a minimum rating of B or higher. BBB Accreditation/ membership is not required.
For those nominated in an additional category, you will need to submit a separate application for the nomination to be reviewed by our independent judging panel.
Our independent judging panel will review all applications and shortlist to three (3) finalists. Judges will assign a numerical score to the specific category criteria which applicants should note in their responses.

Chamber membership is not required for eligibility. The Business Awards are open to all companies, organizations, enterprises, individuals and not-for-profits located in the Central Okanagan.

Entries are evaluated by an independent, voluntary panel of judges comprised of business and community leaders, BBB staff and board members. Your written submission, including examples, stories and documents, should provide a robust and accurate depiction of your organization's focus on character, culture, customers and community. Supporting documents and attachments can range from handbooks, internal documentation, or photos from events.
BBB Accreditation is not required;
Applicants must have a “B” rating with BBB;
Organizations must have been in business for three years;
All financial obligations must be met;
Applicants are not eligible if they have received the BBB Torch Award in the past five years;
Government agencies are not eligible to submit an application.
